Chicago has finally gotten a reprieve and it looks like the weather is starting to turn! Which means sunnies, rosé, patios, and skin are back in season. So, I am done with winter clothes. Until temps really start to climb, I can be found roaming the streets of Chicago shivering in my transition wardrobe. Transitioning from winter to spring and summer to fall are my favorite times of year, style wise. If you’re lucky, you might get a couple weeks of that perfect weather when sweaterdresses, booties with shorts and other creative combinations take the streets.
For me, I love the transition times because you can break the rules. Suede shoes haven’t quite expired, velour tops can get one final wear, and we can finally start to show some skin. We can also get a few final wears out of our winter favs. I bought this velour top from Zara for the holidays. The shimmer screamed New Year’s Eve. Per usual, our New Year’s rang in on the couch, so this top went unworn. But, on one of our first sunny days, it made the perfect happy hour ensemble.
I love neutrals. My closet is basically black, white and grey. I don’t put much thought into outfits, so I love the ease of throwing on black, black and black, or white on white. If I buy something in color, it is usually an accessory: shoes, bag, or earrings. This red YSL gave a monotoned outfit a little flair. Sadly, they sold out of this patent clutch, but I linked similar ones below.
For now, I can be found with a drink in my hand, basking in the sun…until it rains tomorrow.
