Life got a whole lot easier when I rediscovered backpacks. A couple summers ago, Blake and I decided we were going to channel our inner Armstrong and bike everywhere. After a couple bike rides with my crossbody slapping against my leg, I decided it was time to get a backpack, like the real bikers do. I have been hooked ever since.
Whether you are trying to make a fashion statement or just going for practical, there is a backpack out there for you, budget, splurge, or even leopard (If you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for leopard). I linked all my favorite backpack finds, below.
Since BB, backpacks have taken on a whole new meaning. Now that she is trying to walk, she is all over the place. Being hands-free is everything. Extra perk, when changing a diaper in a public bathroom and you don’t want to put your diaper bag on the dirty floor, your backpack will save the day.
The Marc Jacobs bag is amazing. My exact bag is sold out, but this one is similar. This one is the exact same shape, just in nylon. It has the perfect ratio of pocket to open space. At all times, whether I am with BB or not, I have a couple diapers, a travel pack of wipes and an extra binky or two packed away.
If you plan on leaving home with a baby, some sort of bag is a necessity. I had a really hard time deciding on a diaper bag. I did not want anything that looked like a diaper bag but I also didn’t want to drop $$$$ on a designer diaper bag. I was leaning towards skipping the diaper bag entirely but caved under pressure when so many moms responded with “WHAT, you’re not getting a diaper bag?!” Mom judgment is real and the worst. We did end up buying this traditional diaper bag, but to be honest, it only gets used when we are traveling or heading to my parents for the weekend. I almost always opt for a backpack or a purse I can squeeze some baby essentials into.
If you opt for a backpack or non-traditional diaper bag, I would highly recommend this insert. Although we bought a diaper bag, I threw this on my registry “just-in-case” and it has serious miles on it already. What I love about this insert, is being able to easily move it from bag to bag. It is always packed with essentials, and I just toss it into whatever bag I choose to use that day. I love my pre-mama bags, and I don’t want them sitting unused for the better part of my upper 20s and 30s. I may be a mama, but my bag doesn’t have to scream it.
